Help Support the Library
Countless individuals and community service groups help our library to maintain an up-to-date collection of books, books on tape, and movies. Here are some ways you, too, can support the library.
Make a Financial Contribution to the Library
You can give an undesignated gift, or you can give a memorial gift of $25 or more in honor of a loved one or beloved animal companion. With memorial gifts, we'll buy a book, CD, or DVD and place in it a name plate honoring or memorializing your loved one. We'll also place a note in that item's catalog record indicating the donation. You can designate a subject for the purchase. For example, if your loved one was a gardener, you can request we purchase a book about gardening.
Designate an Outdoor Bench for a Loved One
Honor a loved one with a plaque on an outdoor bench for $1,500. The Library has six (6) benches left. Contact Sandy Johnston to find out how to honor or memorialize your loved one.
Donate Used Items
Donate gently used books, videos, DVDs, and CDs to the library. If the item is up-to-date and in excellent condition, and we think our patrons would benefit from it, we'll add it to our collection. Otherwise, the item will be sold at the Friends of the Boerne Public Library Bookshop Under the Windmill next to the library. The money from the bookshop comes back to the library, so either way, the community will benefit from your contribution!
Shop at the Bookshop Under the Windmill
The Bookshop Under the Windmill is open weekly Wednesday-Saturday from 10:00 AM to 2:00 PM. Shop here for books, movies, CDs, gifts and much more. All sales at the Bookshop benefit the Library.
Make a Financial Contribution to the Library’s Support Groups
The Friends of the Boerne Public Library and the Boerne Public Library Foundation are both non-profit organizations raising funds to support the Library. The Friends and Foundation fund materials, equipment, supplies, programs and other special projects not covered by other funding sources. Donate to the Friends of the Boerne Public Library; learn more about the Boerne Public Library Foundation.
Make a Future Financial Contribution
You can make a future financial contribution to the library by designating the Patrick Heath Public Library as a beneficiary in your will or your insurance policy. Your financial advisor can tell you more about how planned giving will benefit both the library and your family.
Planned giving can be tailored to your unique circumstances and provide long-term support to the library, while saving you surprising amounts in estate, gift, and income taxes. Naming the library as a beneficiary of your retirement plan assets, such as an IRA, or your life insurance policy may also provide tax savings and help protect your assets.
Including the library in your will is simple, even if one has already been created for you. Make changes to your will by executing an amendment called a codicil. Both your will and codicil should be drafted by a qualified attorney who specializes in estate planning.
To learn more about planned giving, call Library Director Kelly Skovbjerg at 830-248-1611.
